Privacy Policy
Overview
ProgressCam ("the App") is developed and operated by Kerem Uslular ("we," "us," "our"). This policy explains what data we collect, why, how it is stored, and your rights regarding that data. We are committed to transparency and minimal data collection.
1. Data Stored Locally on Your Device
The following data is stored on your device:
- Photos and images you take or import into ProgressCam
- Project data — project names, side names, categories, capture dates, notes, alignment adjustments, and photo metadata
- Landmark detection data — facial and body alignment computed entirely on-device
- App preferences, settings, and notification schedules
Your photos and project data are sent to our servers only if you turn on cloud backup (section 3). Landmark detection data never leaves your device. Signing in, even without backup, creates a small account profile with no photos or project data (section 4).
App switcher. Once you leave ProgressCam for another app or the Home Screen, the app switcher shows a cover instead of your photos, whether or not App Lock is on.
All photo processing and landmark detection happens on your device using on-device machine learning. No biometric data is ever transmitted externally.
2. Health Data (Optional)
If you choose, ProgressCam can read your body weight from Apple Health and show it next to your photo timeline. This is off until you turn on Show weight alongside my photos in the app's Settings, and iOS asks for your permission first.
- What is read: your weight entries in Apple Health, and nothing else. Access is read-only: ProgressCam never writes anything to Apple Health.
- How it is used: only to show your weight next to your photo timeline, on your device.
- It stays on your device: your weight is never synced, uploaded or transmitted. It is not sent to our servers (Firebase) or to analytics, and it is not included in cloud backup, exports, shares, or the photo archive (section 7).
- Not stored by ProgressCam: ProgressCam keeps no copy of your weight. It reads it from Apple Health each time the Progress Recap is shown and holds it in memory only to display it. The only thing ProgressCam saves is whether the feature is on.
- Turning it off: you can turn the feature off in the app's Settings, or remove ProgressCam's access in the Health app, at any time.
Analytics may record only that you turned the feature on or off. It never records a weight value, how many entries you have, or whether any were found.
Health data is never used for advertising or marketing, and is never sold or shared with third parties.
3. Cloud Backup (Optional)
If you sign in and your projects are backed up to the cloud:
- What is uploaded: your photos and project data, including project names, side names, notes, and alignment adjustments
- Your photos and project data are encrypted in transit and at rest
- Cloud-stored data is associated with your account and accessible only to you
- You can disable cloud backup at any time, and delete cloud-stored data from the app: one project's cloud copy (Remove Cloud Backup, or delete the project), or all of it with Delete Account (section 8)
- Cloud storage limits apply based on your plan (free or Pro)
4. Authentication
Sign-in is optional — all core features work without an account. ProgressCam supports Sign in with Apple and Sign in with Google via Firebase Authentication. We do not have access to your Apple Account or Google account password.
Anonymous identifier. Even if you never sign in, the app creates a random anonymous account identifier (Firebase anonymous authentication) the first time you open it, and reuses it on later launches. It is not linked to your name or email. You can delete it in Settings → Privacy & Lock → Delete My Data (section 8).
Account profile. When you sign in, we store a profile for your account in our cloud database, whether or not cloud backup is on. It contains:
- Your display name and email, and which sign-in provider you used
- Whether you have Pro
- Your device model, iOS version, app version, language and region, and platform
- When your account was created, when you were last active, and how much cloud storage you use
We use this profile to run the service and for aggregate analytics. It contains no photos, project names, notes, or other project data.
Sign-in providers. Sign in with Apple is handled by Apple. Google Sign-In is a third-party service: Google may collect information during its own sign-in flow, under Google's Privacy Policy.
5. Analytics & Crash Reporting
We use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (provided by Google) to understand aggregate usage patterns and diagnose crashes.
- Analytics is pseudonymous: it uses a random app-instance identifier and is not linked to your name or email. ProgressCam does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA) and does not track you across other apps or websites.
- Analytics events are usage counts and categories (for example, which features are used). No photo content, project names, or text you type is sent.
- Analytics estimates your approximate location (city or country) from your IP address.
- Crashlytics collects crash and diagnostic data, not linked to your identity.
- This data is used solely to improve app quality and stability
- Subject to Google's Privacy Policy
6. Purchases & Payments
ProgressCam Pro is available as a monthly or yearly subscription, or as a one-time lifetime in-app purchase, managed through Apple's App Store and RevenueCat. We do not collect, process, or store any payment information. All billing is handled by Apple: subscriptions renew automatically and are billed to your Apple Account until you cancel them in your Apple Account's subscription settings. To manage your Pro access, RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID, your device's vendor identifier (IDFV), and your purchase and entitlement information — subject to RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
7. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We share data only with the service providers described above (Google Firebase, RevenueCat, and Apple), solely to run and improve the app. These providers are bound by their own privacy policies and data processing agreements.
Archive export. You can export your photos as a ZIP archive, for all your projects or for a single one, from Settings → Your photos → Save a copy of my photos, or Save a copy of this project in a project's menu. It contains your original and aligned photos, a README, and a manifest file describing your projects, sides, capture dates, notes, and alignment adjustments. The archive is created on your device, only when you ask for it, and goes only where you choose to save or send it. We never receive it: nothing is uploaded to our servers, and the app's temporary copy is deleted when you close the export screen. Landmark detection data is not included, and neither are your account or purchase identifiers. The archive is not encrypted, so keep it somewhere you trust.
8. Data Retention & Deletion
Photos and project data stored on your device remain under your control. You can delete any project or photo at any time.
Deleting your account. If you signed in, go to Settings → Account → Delete Account, then sign in with Apple or Google again to confirm. It permanently deletes your account, your cloud backup (every backed-up project, side and photo) and your account profile, and disconnects ProgressCam from your Apple or Google account. Other devices signed in to the account are signed out. If you never signed in, go to Settings → Privacy & Lock → Delete My Data. It deletes your anonymous identifier and anything stored with it on our servers. Either way, the app's analytics identifier is reset.
What stays. Projects and photos on your iPhone stay on the device; to remove them, delete them in the app, or delete the app. Your Pro purchase or subscription is tied to your Apple Account, not to your ProgressCam account, and can be restored with Restore Purchases. Deleting your account (or the app) doesn't cancel a subscription: Apple keeps billing it until you cancel it, so cancel it first in Settings → Manage subscription, or in your Apple Account's subscription settings.
If deletion can't finish, for example because you go offline partway, your account is kept until it can: Settings then offers Finish Deleting Account or Keep My Account. To have anything else deleted, such as data the app couldn't reach, or the purchase records RevenueCat keeps to validate your Pro purchase (section 6), contact us.
Analytics data is retained for up to 24 months and then automatically deleted.
9. Children's Privacy
ProgressCam is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect new features or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the Effective date above and describe them in the App Store release notes. The "Effective" date at the top indicates the latest revision. Continued use of ProgressCam after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
